Project
In 2008-2011, Clean Business Programme, delivered by the Polish Environmental Partnership Foundation, is based on implementation of a project entitled: „Promoting Clean Business in Poland” supported by a grant from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA Financial Mechanism and the Norwegian Financial Mechanism. The project will be implemented using the organisational structure, membership network, expertise and experience of the Clean Business Programme.
The objective of the “Promoting Clean Business in Poland” project, which is implemented in partnership with the Green Business Norway organization, is to promote and implement sustainable development principles among Polish businesses, especially small and medium sized companies (SMEs).
The project will help Polish SMEs to improve their resources management and reduce their negative environmental impact through the reduction of energy, water, materials use and waste minimisation. Environmental effects achieved by project participants will also translate into economic benefits and will motivate companies to undertake further environmental improvements as well as to engage in social and ecological actions.
Clean Business specialists will help companies:
- Identify and deal with the most common environmental problems (200 environmental audits).
- Design improvement programmes to reduce environmental impact based on investment and non-investment solutions to identified problems (150 improvement programmes).
Implement improvement activities (100 environmental improvements), which will bring reductions in:
- energy use (average 10%),
- water consumption (average 20%),
- materials use (average 5%),
- minimising waste and emissions (average 10%).
To help companies to implement environmental investments the Polish Environmental Partnership Foundation will involve financial institutions to work together to develop a friendly and affordable for businesses financing mechanisms for environmental investments.
During project implementation PEPF will also use an interactive Internet tool Environment Manager, which was developed by the Foundation under an EU Life Environment project (2004-2006).
Best environmental solutions implemented by companies will compete in the Annual Clean Business Awards Competition, which enables winners to participate in the European Union's Business Award for Environment.
